About Me

Hi! My name is Lars, and this is my website I’m using for an online, more in depth version of my resume. Here I’d like to go more into the things I do, the things I enjoy, and some interesting things about me. I like to spend my time fixing (immediatly after breaking) the different services in my homelab. I am super passionate about everything concerning privacy, and free and open source software. Open source allows anyone to get into more advanced computer things, and is a fantastic way to learn by doing.

You can get an up to date copy of my resume here.

Certification(s) Link to heading

During college, one of my classes consisted mostly of the content in Security+, and even came with a voucher to take it when you passed the class. I waited a decent ammount of time after, but in January of 2023 I went and took it, and passed with no issue. I also just recently passed my Linux+, I have already been using linux personally on both desktop and server applications, so it went smoothly.

You can verify my certs here

Linux+ code : 33QP1P5RHFR416G0

I am currently working on getting my CISSP. I’m going through the book right now, and am not finding it too hard, so I think the process will go off without a hitch. I will update it here when I get it.

Everyone has that one weird thing they’re super passionate about, and for me, not counting my birds, is my homelab. The basis of my homelab is a Dell Optiplex 7010 I got off eBay a while back specifically to use as a server. I immediatly installed Proxmox on it, and have been using that to host both containers, and virtual machines ever since.

Some of the services I self host are 2 web dashboards, 2 Cloudflare zero trust tunnels (for my websites), an RSS feed for myself, and a recursive DNS server.

As I briefly mentioned in that list, I host tunnels for my websites. All of the hosting needed for my websites is done by myself. I do not pay anyone for hosting, web development, or content delivery. it is all done through me, using a domain I bought, some cloudflare configuration, and an Nginx server hosting the website you’re looking at right now. Even the website itself was made by me, and while I’m not the best at html, I found an open source project called Hugo that makes the process super simple.

My network wasn’t left untouched either. I run a pfSense application on a little server to act as a firewall. All this is properly configured to keep my network safe, using special rules I made, port forwarding, and VLANs to ensure that everything facing the internet is segmented away from my personal devices.

My only big plan for the immediate future is that I want to install some software called Wazuh, which is an open source SIEM. It is installed on a server, and has its agents installed on each computer you want to protect. this allows you to monitor the security, and activity of each device from the server itself. I don’t have a super large need for it, but it seemed like it would be super fun to setup, would teach me more about cyber security, and it’s free!

I also have two birds! Their names are Keiko and Lulu, and when I eventually pry myself away from work, I get to come home and relax with them. They didn’t feel super professionally relevant, but I still wanted to include them, so they’re down here at the bottom of the page.

Both the birds
